Kota Kinabalu: Forty students of Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic (PKK) received one-off assistance of RM500 each from Sedafiat Sdn Bhd.

Chairman of the PKK Industry Advisory Committee, Datuk Awang Buhtamam Awang Mahmum, said the recipients were chosen from the B40 group.

“I hope the financial assistance will lighten the burden of the students, especially those who are new and are just registering.

“The money can be used to buy essential items for them to enter their first semester at the polytechnic,” he said.

He expressed hope that the donation will also motivate the students to do well in their studies.

He said apart from PKK, similar assistance will also be given to selected recipients from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sabah.

Awang Buhtamam, who is also the CEO of Sedafiat, officiated at the closing of the Orientation Week for 586 new students of the polytechnic.

Also present were PKK Director Dullah Muluk; Deputy Directors Abdul Razak Mohd Daim and Md Syadiqin Awg Adi; and Student Affairs head Saril Yusop.
