TAWAU: Marine police seized 14,000 litres of diesel and arrested six men in connection with suspected fuel misappropriation during a raid at a storage facility in Kampung Pasir Putih on Tuesday night.

The total value of the seizure is estimated at RM615,920, including a tanker lorry, three vehicles, several storage tanks and three fibre tanks.

Sabah Marine Police Assistant Commander Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the suspects include five locals and one foreign national.

“The operation was carried out at around 10.30pm following public tip-offs and intelligence gathered by the Marine Intelligence Unit,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

The case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which regulates controlled goods and empowers enforcement agencies to act against hoarding and misappropriation.

“PPM Sabah remains committed to combating smuggling and fuel-related offences to safeguard national interests, especially in strategic coastal and maritime zones,” Nazri added.

He also called on the public to continue supporting enforcement efforts by reporting any suspicious activities.
