SEMPORNA: The Kunak 22nd Battalion General Operation Force (GOF) seized cosmetic and health products worth more than RM800,000 in Op Taring Dosej on Wednesday.
Kunak GOF in a statement said, following intelligence information, the team carried out an integrated operation on an unnumbered premise at Jalan Pinggir Bakau, at about 8.10am.
The premise was suspected to have been used as storage for the cosmetic and health products.
Following the operation, the team discovered some large boxes containing various cosmetic and health products.
“Further inspection also led to the arrest of three men who were on the premise. The trio were suspected to have been involved in management and ownership of the seized items.
“The team also seized three vehicles on the scene, which believe used to store and transport the items,” said the GOF.
According to the statement, the large boxes contain products such as whitening soap, face cream, lotion, rose water, sunscreen, traditional herbs, health drinks and anti-bacterial treatment products which suspect does not receive approval from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).
All the cosmetic and health products were estimated worth RM892,792 while the vehicles were estimated worth RM150,000. All the seizures were estimated worth RM1,041,791.
The suspects and the seizures were handed over to the Royal Malaysian Custom Department (JKDM) Semporna.
The case would be investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Custom Acts 1967.
