In a major feat, Lt Vishal Kumar, an alumnus of RMS Chail, was conferred the Sword of Honour and the President’s Gold Medal by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. He received the awards at the passing out parade for the 158th Regular Course at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun.

The coveted Sword of Honour is presented to the best all-round gentleman cadet of the passing-out course, while the President’s Gold Medal is awarded to the cadet who stands first in the overall order of merit.

Several other alumni also brought laurels to the school and added new chapters to its glorious legacy. Captain Yogender Singh Thakur, an alumnus of the school and an officer of the 6th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), was conferred the prestigious Shaurya Chakra for his exceptional courage and gallantry during a counter-terrorist operation. His fearless actions and unwavering devotion to duty epitomise the highest traditions of the Indian Armed Forces.

Also, Major Akhilesh Bhatt, another alumnus, achieved the extraordinary feat of scaling Mount Everest while leading a 12-member National Security Guard team. By unfurling the RMS Chail flag atop the world’s highest peak, he carried the spirit and legacy of his alma mater to the roof of the world, inspiring generations of young Georgians.

The stream of honours continued with Cadet Captain Sahil Sharma, who was awarded the coveted President’s Bronze Medal at the Passing Out Parade of the 150th Course of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra.

Further enhancing the prestige of the institution, Sub Lieutenant Sachin Kumar was commissioned into the Indian Navy and received the distinguished Chief of Naval Staff Silver Medal for securing second position in the overall order of merit at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala.

The principal of Rashtriya Military School, along with the faculty, cadets, alumni, and the entire Georgian fraternity, takes immense pride in these outstanding achievers. “Their accomplishments serve as a beacon of inspiration for present and future generations, reminding all that with dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to excellence, no summit is too high and no honour is beyond reach. These remarkable achievements are not merely individual successes; they are shining reflections of the values, discipline, and spirit nurtured within the historic corridors of the school,” said the principal.
