MANILA, Philippines — Commercial flights at Romblon Airport are back with low-cost carrier Sunlight Air conducting its inaugural flights from Clark International Airport, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced on Thursday.
The CAAP said Sunlight Air's direct flight from Clark to Tablas, Romblon on Tuesday marked a significant step toward restoring commercial air services to the province.
The agency added that through the close coordination among the CAAP Romblon Airport management, airline personnel, security agencies, and other stakeholders, all necessary operational, safety, and security preparations were undertaken to ensure a smooth inaugural turnaround.
“CAAP will continue to work with our airline partners and stakeholders to make connectivity safer, more efficient, and more accessible to the Filipino people,” CAAP Director General Raul del Rosario said.
Commercial flights at Romblon Airport were previously suspended due to airline operational pullouts and strict compliance audits regarding safety, security, and technical requirements.
In January 2025, AirSwift completely halted its regular flight operations to Romblon after servicing the province for a little over two years, leaving the airport with no active commercial carriers.
Romblon Airport features a relatively small runway suited primarily for turboprop aircraft.
