
MANILA, Philippines — Rain or Shine and Phoenix clash for the solo lead in Group B as action in the PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup heats up on Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Both squads collide at 5:15 p.m. with the winner grabbing the solo lead at Group B in the standings as the positioning for the top 4 in the quarterfinals continues as well.
The two protagonists enter the game carrying similar 4-2 records.
The 7:30 p.m. main game features Barangay Ginebra and Blackwater.
Phoenix lost grip of the solo lead after suffering a 106-100 loss to Blackwater recently.
ROS is on a hot streak, winning its last four games after a 0-2 start.
Aaron Fuller has been delivering his usual numbers on offense and rebounding.
Now it’s up to the locals led by Adrian Nocum, Jhon Clarito, Caelan Tiongson, Andrei Caracut and even youngsters Deo Cuajao and Mike Malonso to provide the key support.
Phoenix will have import Robert Johnson III at the forefront along with Tyler Tio, Jason Perkins, Ricci Rivero and Ken Tuffin as the team tries to avenge its 104-98 loss in the first round.
As for Blackwater, the team will shoot for its fourth win in seven games and try to extend Ginebra’s woes this conference.
The Bossing got hammered by the Gin Kings, 115-85 in the initial meeting two weeks ago, a loss that ended their quick 2-0 start.
Blackwater went on a three-game slide, but managed to arrest the bleeding with its six-point upset against Phoenix.
The Gin Kings are coming off a 73-88 loss to bitter rival Magnolia Hotshots.
