Terrafirma hands NLEX first loss

Terrafirma put an end to NLEX’s perfect run to start the tournament as it scored a 114-109 victory in their PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup match on Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Malate, Manila.

Hanging on the coattails of the Road Warriors for much of the game, the Dyip managed to unleash a backbreaking 9-0 finish to complete the upset win.

Terrafirma improved to 3-4, while its victory handed NLEX its first loss under new coach Jimmy Alapag after a 6-0 start.

This season’s top overall rookie pick Geo Chiu and Brent Paraiso each chipped four points in the endgame run.

Justin Strings led Terrafirma with 28 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Juami Tiongson added 20, Paraiso finished with 18 points, and Maverick Ahanmisi added 16 points and 10 assists.

JM Bravo also scored 16, while Chiu flirted with a double-double after scoring eight and added 10 boards.

Robert Bolick led the Road Warriors with 20 points and eight assists, while Bahio also had 20 points and a career-high 16 boards.

Import Dequan Jones scored 15 in the opening half, but was limited to just four points the rest of the way for NLEX.-
