The royal family has marked Prince William’s 44th birthday, and Father’s Day, by releasing a previously unseen photo of him and his daughter Princess Charlotte.
The photo, taken after this year’s Trooping the Colour, was shared on Instagram on Sunday.
It featured the caption: “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L” and an emoji of two pink hearts.
The picture was taken in the garden of Kensington Palace after the Trooping the Colour ceremony last weekend.
William wears the scarlet dress uniform of the Welsh Guards, of which he is colonel, and Charlotte wears a cream dress.
To mark Father’s Day, a picture of the King and his father the late Prince Philip was posted on the royal family Instagram account.
“Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today,” the caption said.
The picture showed the then-Prince Charles with his father in Lincolnshire upon the completion of his RAF training in 1971.
This week, the Prince of Wales was joined by his wife Princess Catherine at Royal Ascot for the first time since 2023.
On Wednesday, William and Kate rode in a carriage behind Charles and Camilla along the race course – a tradition dating back 200 years to the reign of George IV who made that first journey with the Duke of Wellington.
The royal party were cheered as they travelled past the stands filled with racegoers waiting for the first race of the day.
They then enjoyed the races from the royal box and even shared a joke with former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate before the World Cup match against Croatia.
It was Kate’s first appearance at the famous Berkshire meet since being diagnosed with cancer in early 2024 and later undergoing successful chemotherapy treatment.
The couple were also part of Monday’s Garter Day celebrations at Windsor Castle.
But it appears to be a quieter birthday for the prince than in 2024, when he took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see Taylor Swift at Wembley stadium.
The pop star posted a photo of herself, her now-fiancé Travis Kelce, and the royals on Instagram, with the caption: “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start.”
