FIFA considers extending the World Cup final halftime to 30 minutes for a Super Bowl-style show, despite IFAB rules limiting the break to 15 minutes.
THE 2026 FIFA World Cup final will feature its first-ever Super Bowl-style half-time show, headlined by Madonna, Shakira and K-pop group BTS at New York New Jersey Stadium, BBC News reports.
The performance is expected to last about 11 minutes. While FIFA has yet to confirm the exact half-time schedule, organisers are reportedly considering either extending the interval to around 20 minutes or staging the show within the standard 15-minute break.
Under the Laws of the Game set by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the half-time interval must not exceed 15 minutes.
FIFA previously staged a musical performance during the 2025 Club World Cup final at the same venue.
That match featured performances by Coldplay, J Balvin, Doja Cat, Tems and Emmanuel Kelly, with the half-time interval lasting 24 minutes.
Justin Bieber has also been added to the line-up for Sunday’s World Cup final, joining Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has curated the musical programme.
The World Cup final will feature performances by Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and IShowSpeed, while Jennifer Hudson is set to perform the United States national anthem.
On the pitch, Spain secured their place in the final after defeating France 2-0 in the first semi-final in Dallas on Tuesday.
They will meet either England or Argentina, who face each other in the second semi-final in Atlanta on Wednesday.
