Russian glide bombs killed two people and injured a further 15 in Zaporizhzhya in south-eastern Ukraine, military governor Ivan Fedorov reported on Tuesday.

Posting on Telegram, Fedorov said that seven bombs of this kind had been dropped on the industrial city, capital of the region of the same name. A kindergarten was among the buildings hit.

The front line runs around 20 kilometres to the south of the city. The glide bombs are launched from bombers at great height and at a distance out of reach of Ukrainian air defences. They glide to their target using satellite navigation.

Ukraine has been warding off a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022.
