MATUNGGONG: Sabah Day provides an opportunity for Sabahans to appreciate the State’s history, identity and culture while reflecting on its role in the formation of Malaysia, said Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki.
She said Sabahans must at the same time continue strengthening their spirit as Malaysians and play their part in ensuring the country continues to progress.
“We are not only a sovereign State, but we also respect our country as a sovereign nation,” she said when officiating the 2026 Matunggong Sub-district-level Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang and Sabah Day Programme at the Matunggong Town Open Hall on Saturday.
Julita, who is also Matunggong Assemblywoman, urged the public to support the “One House, One Jalur Gemilang” initiative by flying the national flag at their homes, saying it symbolises the unity of Malaysians of various races under a shared identity.
She also reminded the public to replace damaged or worn-out Jalur Gemilang flags with new ones.
On social media, Julita urged the public to “check before believing and check before sharing” and obtain information from credible sources before sharing it.
