Kota Kinabalu: More than 65 per cent of about 200 exhibitors at the Sabah Agro Expo (SAEX) 2026 are aged 40 and below, reflecting growing youth interest in Sabah’s agriculture sector.
State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar said the trend showed that agriculture was opening up opportunities for young people to become entrepreneurs, traders and industry players.
“About 200 exhibitors are participating in this expo, and I understand that six papers will be presented over the three days, covering agriculture, fisheries, livestock and food,” he said.
Jamawi said the expo also included a goat farming course, with practical training conducted in Penampang.
He said the Ministry fully supported the expo as a platform to encourage more young people to explore opportunities in agriculture.
Jamawi said the Ministry would continue supporting the organisation of the expo in the coming years, including from 2027 to 2030.
