Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) and the Sabah Police Contingent have strengthened their collaboration to enhance electrical safety awareness and knowledge among field personnel following a fatal electrocution incident involving three police officers in Weston, Beaufort.
The initiative was marked by an Electrical Safety Awareness Briefing held at the Kepayan Contingent Police Headquarters on Wednesday, which was preceded by a courtesy call paid by Sabah Electricity chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar on Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
The courtesy visit aimed to tighten strategic ties between both organisations while addressing broader matters involving electrical safety, public order, and the welfare of the people.
A total of 300 police personnel took part in the briefing both in person and virtually via Zoom, enabling wide dissemination of safety information to members of the force across the State.
The safety programme will be rolled out in stages statewide to focus on hazard identification, shock risks, precautions near electrical installations, and correct emergency responses when encountering electrical hazards in the line of duty.
