Kota Kinabalu: Sabah's Federal development expenditure performance reached 71.78 per cent as of Oct 26 this year, up from 52.07 per cent recorded on Aug 10, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Speaking while chairing the State Development Action Council (MTPNg) meeting at Menara Kinabalu, Hajiji said 291 development projects have been completed in the state this year, including Sekolah Menengah Sains Sabah in Kota Kinabalu and Sekolah Kebangsaan Buit Hill in Penampang.
He urged all ministries, departments, and implementing agencies to step up efforts to ensure remaining development funds are fully utilised before the end of the 2026 financial year, particularly for projects facing execution delays or significant unspent allocations.
Hajiji also welcomed the RM18.7 billion allocation for Sabah under the recently tabled Budget Madani 2027, an increase from RM17.6 billion this year, which will prioritise initiatives such as Phase 1B of the Pan Borneo Highway and critical electricity supply upgrades.
He stressed that development success must be measured by tangible improvements to the people's quality of life and well-being rather than just the volume of funds spent or projects delivered.
