Kota Kinabalu: Creative industry players in the State welcomed the various incentives for the creative arts industry announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Budget 2024, tabled recently. Kota Kinabalu Film and Video Association (KKFVA) president Chester Pang said the Association welcomed the allocation of RM60 million under the Digital Content Grant (DKD), much larger than this year’s RM36 million.

“For the record, this year, four Sabah film production companies have successfully obtained DKD involving a total of RM2.5 million.

However, this amount is still small compared to the funds provided under DKD this year, which is RM36 million. It is hoped that with this RM60 million (for the 2024 Budget), it will provide greater benefits to the film community in this state,” he told the Daily Express.

Chester, who is also “Craze Below the Wind” producer, also hoped that after this, more companies or creative arts players in Sabah would receive funds under DKD.
