Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is leveraging its natural resources sustainably to attract investment, enhance market access, and generate higher-value economic opportunities, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
His speech was delivered by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun at the opening of the Sustainable Action Conference 2026 (SAC 4.0) here on Wednesday.
Hajiji said protecting the environment and pursuing economic development are complementary objectives that underpin the state’s key sectors under the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 roadmap for 2026 to 2030.
He highlighted that the Blue Economy agenda, sustainable management of forests and mangroves, and the Sabah Energy Roadmap and Master Plan 2040 are central to ensuring long-term competitiveness as international markets demand stricter traceability and environmental standards.
Emphasising practical collaboration, the Chief Minister welcomed initiatives such as the Zero Waste to Landfill campaign, the RM40,000 commitment to school-led sustainability projects, and partnerships with investors and industry players to build local capabilities.
