TAMBUNAN: A new ray of hope has emerged for the family of En. Binius @ Zakirin bin Dumin @ Rahiman, whose home was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Tinompok Liwan, as they are set to receive a Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Home in 2026.
The initiative was announced by Keningau MP and Tambunan Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan, who visited the scene and met with the affected family.
The family’s inclusion as a recipient of the SMJ Home is a long-term government measure to ensure those affected by disasters can have a safe, comfortable and proper home after losing their shelter.
In addition to the new housing assistance, Dr Jeffrey also handed over immediate aid comprising rice, drinking water and financial assistance to help ease the family’s daily burden.
His visit was accompanied by district administration officials, including Tambunan District Officer Mohd Azri Jaini bin Jeffery, JKR District Engineer Calvin Justin, Community Development Leader Jinus Taguah, Keningau Parliamentary Service Centre Head Saldivilla Wences, as well as local leaders from Kampung Tinompok Liwan.
The presence of the various agencies enabled an on-site assessment to be carried out to facilitate faster coordination of follow-up measures.
The affected family expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the concern shown by their elected representative and the agencies involved, who not only provided immediate assistance but also offered a long-term solution for their welfare.
