LABUAN: The repeated calls here for the proposed Labuan-Menumbok bridge is seen as a “one-sided love story” because there is no enthusiasm or clear signal from Sabah that it shared the same interest.
“To build the full length bridge going beyond the jurisdiction of the island’s territory and ending in another state inevitably requires the consent of the partner.
“The Labuan bridge is unlike the Penang Bridge with both the points in the same state, while the Labuan-Sabah situation is not the same,” said activist Julius Elias.
He said as a retiree, he favoured the bridge due to travel convenience and that the project could be economically advantageous to the island.
