KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has declared Monday, March 31, as a replacement public holiday following Governor Tun Musa Aman’s official birthday on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor (pic) said the State Government decided that if Monday is also a public holiday, then April 2 will also be a holiday under the Public Holiday Ordinance.

The sighting of the new moon of Syawal is set for March 30 at 29 locations nationwide to determine the beginning of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

The Conference of Rulers has agreed that the determination of Hari Raya Aidilfitri will follow the Rukyah (moon sighting) and Hisab (astronomical calculations) methods.
