GUIYANG: Sabah is using tourism, culture, music and industry partnerships to strengthen travel demand and support the Kota Kinabalu–Guiyang air connection.
State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said sustaining air connectivity required more than operating flights, with travellers needing reasons to visit destinations and build lasting connections.
“A direct flight opens the door, but we must give people a reason to keep travelling, and that is why we are bringing tourism, culture, music, media and business together,” he said.
The Sabah delegation comprises tourism industry players, cultural groups, the SME Association of Sabah, Department of Industrial Development and Research (DIDR), Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association (MCTA) Sabah Chapter and other stakeholders, with singer Shila Amzah also taking part in the programme.
Jafry said the programme, which also involves activities in Anshun and Chongqing, is aimed at translating air connectivity into tourism and business opportunities for Sabah while building demand to support the long-term sustainability of the Kota Kinabalu–Guiyang connection.
