Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Table Tennis Association (STTA) president Liaw Kian Vun has expressed pride in the state’s young paddlers after they secured two bronze medals at the 44th Milo Malaysia Junior & Cadet Table Tennis Championships 2026, held here, last weekend.
Sabah’s first bronze came from the boys’ Under-19 doubles pairing of Shearil Aizat Amat and Zambil Najih Zaini, while Jane Vun Jue En and Elcy Christygina claimed the second bronze in the girls’ Under-15 doubles.
Liaw said the achievement marked a significant milestone for the STTA and would serve as an inspiration to aspiring young table tennis players throughout Sabah.
“I am very happy that Sabah managed to bring home two bronze medals. This is the result of the efforts of the players, coaches, and all parties who have always provided support,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the Sabah contingent would produce an even stronger showing at the 37th Malaysia Hopes Table Tennis Championship, scheduled to be held in Johor from Dec 17 to 20.
“I hope our players deliver an even better performance and bring home results we can all be proud of,” he said.
