KINABATANGAN: Sabah’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.2 per cent in the second quarter of this year from 6.7 per cent previously, reflecting a steady recovery in the state’s labour market.

Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad (pic) said the number of unemployed persons declined from 144,500 to 120,300, showing clear progress in job placements and workforce participation.

He attributed the improvement mainly to the effectiveness of the MYFutureJobs programme managed by the Social Security Organisation (Socso), which successfully placed 11,966 job seekers in employment as of October this year.

As of Oct 24, a total of 93,782 job vacancies were available across Sabah, further indicating the programme’s positive impact on connecting job seekers with employers.

Abdul Rahman announced the figures during the launch of the MyFutureJobs Career Protection Carnival @ Lamag Kinabatangan 2025, which offered over 500 job opportunities from 11 employers and will soon extend to Kota Belud to reach more job seekers.
