MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Third Division suspended for 90 days Sen. Rodante Marcoleta in connection with his plunder case.
Third Division Clerk of Court Dennis Pulma confirmed on Monday that the resolution, penned by Associate Justice Karl B. Miranda, was promulgated on October 19.
Marcoleta was accused of amassing P75 million in ill-gotten wealth through alleged gifts or donations.
A plunder case was filed against him by the Office of the Ombudsman in July. Marcoleta has been detained at the Quezon City Jail since July 15.
Marcoleta also faces a separate charge under Presidential Decree 46, which prohibits public officials from receiving gifts by reason of their office.
