An Indian woman who spent three years living in Pakistan has gone viral on social media after sharing her warm memories and cultural experiences from across the border.
In a widely shared Instagram video, Harshneet Kaur spoke fondly about the hospitality, scenic beauty and everyday life she experienced while staying in Islamabad.
“As an Indian who lived in Pakistan for three years, here are some things I love about Pakistan,” Harshneet said at the beginning of the clip.
Recalling her interactions with locals, Harshneet said people were exceptionally welcoming, especially towards her Sikh family.
“Because my dad wears a turban, they would always say, Sardaar ji, tussi aithey cha pee ke jana, khana kha ke jana," she shared, adding that people would never let them leave without offering food or tea.
The video also highlighted the natural beauty of Pakistan’s capital city.
Harshneet said one of her favourite things about Islamabad was its stunning mountain views.
“Anywhere you walked in Islamabad, you could see mountains and hills,” she said while talking about the famous Margalla Hills, describing them as “beautiful” throughout the day.
She also mentioned Murree, the popular hill station located near Islamabad, calling it one of her personal favourites.
“You sit at this viewpoint, and there are kebabs, restaurants, and this beautiful view of the city. At night, the city used to look so beautiful from up there,” she recalled.
Harshneet further shared memories from her international school in Islamabad, where Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations included cultural activities and even animals like camels and cows being brought onto campus for students.
She also praised the school’s sports infrastructure, saying she was part of both the swimming and track teams during her time there.
The video has struck a chord online, with many social media users appreciating the positive cross-border narrative and the reminder of shared cultural warmth between Indians and Pakistanis.
