The chairman of the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission, Jasvir Singh Garhi, on Saturday visited various villages in the Phillaur area and listened to the problems and demands of people from all village communities. He instructed the concerned officials over the phone to ensure appropriate solutions as quickly as possible.

Commission chairman Garhi said that this visit was undertaken in the interest of all communities so that, through coordination with the administration, their issues could be properly resolved.

He also stated that the Punjab State SC Commission is fully committed to protecting the constitutional rights of the Scheduled Caste community and promoting their socio-economic development. The commission is continuously working to ensure that people belonging to SC receive their rights and the full benefits of government schemes.

During his visit to the Phillaur area today, Garhi attended various meetings in Bara Pind, Paddi Khalsa, Chak Sabu, Bundala Manjhki, Bir Bansian and Atta. While listening to the concerns of all village communities, he said that their issues would be appropriately resolved through coordination with the administration. On this occasion, he also reiterated the Punjab government’s commitment to the welfare and development of people from every section of society.

Garhi paid obeisance at Dera Sant Tahil Das in Apra and received the blessings of Sant Atma Das. Thereafter, he paid obeisance at the religious site of Baba Chinta Bhagat in Rurka village. The commission chairman also visited Bundala Majhki village, where he appreciated the efforts being made to keep children away from drugs and encourage their participation in sports.

He said that the Punjab government is continuously making large-scale efforts to keep youth away from drugs and connect them with sports. While sports grounds in villages are being equipped with modern facilities, athletes who bring pride to the state are also being given due recognition and respect.
