Scottie Scheffler has shared a humorous story about the famous Masters Champions Dinner.

The tradition sees past winners gather at Augusta National during Masters week each year.

Scheffler spoke about his experience attending the dinner and how seating arrangements can sometimes lead to awkward situations.

In particular, he admitted he was careful not to involve Jordan Spieth when deciding where to sit.

Scheffler explained that Jordan Spieth and Zach Johnson usually sit together at the Champions Dinner.

Rather than asking Spieth about where to sit, Scheffler instead went directly to Johnson.

“So Zach and Jordan always sat next to each other,” he explained before the Arnold Palmer Invitational. “And I definitely didn’t ask Jordan to sit by him, because he would have done something to make sure that I didn’t have a place to sit (laughing).

“So I kind of looked at Zach, I was like, ‘Hey, where are you sitting this year?’ And he told me, and he was nice and let me join him. But I definitely wasn’t going to ask Jordan for that because he would have messed with me.”

Scheffler joked that he did not want to give Spieth the opportunity to play a prank on him at the dinner.

The world number one also explained that while there is some etiquette around where players sit, the seating is not strictly assigned.

“There’s a little protocol,” Scheffler added. “Guys kind of have sections where they sit. But you move around a little bit.

“There are not necessarily assigned seats, but I’m definitely not going to go sit in the area where Tiger and Jack sit. Like, there are spots where you kind of feel you’ll naturally flow into.”

The Champions Dinner remains one of the most exclusive traditions in golf, bringing together generations of Masters champions at Augusta National each year.
