
SIPITANG: The search for a local fisherman who is feared to have been attacked by a crocodile in Kampung Bating, Sungai Megalong, entered its second day on Friday.
Punggut Madin, 52, who remains missing as at press time, was said to have disappeared while collecting wood on Thursday.
Fire and Rescue Station Chief Calvin Joe Jeafery said teams comprising firefighters, police, Civil Defence Force and villagers continued combing the river using various methods.

A four-member Fire and Rescue Special Rescue team were also deployed for underwater search.
A distress call on Thursday prompted the search and rescue operation for the victim who was reported to have gone out to gather wood with their younger brother and two nephews.
“The victim’s brother claimed to have seen a crocodile pulling the victim’s leg before dragging him underwater,” Calvin said.
A control post was activated the search continued until 9.30pm on the first day before resuming on Friday morning.
Sipitang District Police Chief Supt Awang Suanda said the search is still ongoing.
