
LAHAD DATU: An object, believed to be an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) was discovered at the riverbank of Sungai Segama, here, on Sunday.
District Police Chief, ACP Dzulbaharin Ismail said the UXO was discovered by a 52-years-old man while fishing at the area. The man immediately informed the Police for further action.
Result of inspection found that the UXO measuring about 30cm long and weighing more than 200kg.
“Further investigation by the Armament Division confirmed that the UXO believed to be a relic of the Second World War (WW2),” he said, in a statement on Sunday.
In the meantime, Police advised members of public to not approach the area while waiting for the disposal of the bomb.
The detonation of the bomb is expected to be carry out by Sabah Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB).
