The Selangor government has declared Oct 25 a state-wide public holiday (special holiday) in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee marking 25 years of the reign of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

SHAH ALAM – The Selangor government has declared Oct 25 a state-wide public holiday (special holiday) in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee marking 25 years of the reign of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

State secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said as the date falls on a Sunday, the following day, Monday, Oct 26, 2026, has been set as a replacement public holiday.

According to him, the silver jubilee celebration will take place from Sep 28 to Nov 1, as a mark of loyalty, respect and gratitude from the state administration and the people under the reign of the Sultan of Selangor.

"The highlight of the celebration will take place on Oct 25, marking the full 25 years of his reign and will involve three main ceremonies.

"These include the Inspection of the Guard of Honour ceremony with a 21-gun salute, the Proclamation and Oath-Taking Ceremony as well as an audience with the Palace Chiefs and Selangor Royal Dato's and the Selangor State Honours Conferment Ceremony," he said in a statement on Friday.

Fadzli said 20 programmes and official events have been arranged throughout the celebration period, covering social, religious, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development and sports aspects.

He said the programmes involve cooperation between state and federal government departments, local authorities (PBT), statutory bodies, state government-linked companies (GLCs) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

"The state government fully upholds the decree of the Sultan of Selangor that the entire celebration be carried out with moderation, dignity and high impact without any wastage.

"The state government also prays that the entire programme planned will run smoothly and be blessed, thus becoming a historic moment that strengthens the bond of affection between the Ruler and the people of Selangor," he said.

Among the main programmes to be held are the Peninsula Journey Orphan Care Programme, the launch of the Autism-Friendly Park, the Larian Kita (Our Run) programme and the Royal Tea Reception.

Also taking place are a Yasin recital and prayer session, as well as the Multaqa and Grand Islamic Affairs Forum, besides the launch of a special commemorative envelope and stamp, a commemorative coin and the book Menjulang Takhta.

In the field of sports and talent development, scheduled programmes include the launch of the Selangor Polo and Equestrian Club, the Sultan of Selangor Silver Jubilee Polo Cup Championship and the Under-15 Football League match.

The series of celebrations will draw to a close on Nov 1, 2026, with an audience ceremony in conjunction with the Proclamation of Titles for Palace Chiefs and Selangor Royal Dato's, as well as the Selangor State Honours Conferment Ceremony.
