KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor FC are moving ahead with plans to bring in Grade A foreign talent, guided by the recommendations of head coach Kim Pan-gon, as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The club's chief executive officer Dr Johan Kamal Hamidon said that Selangor’s recruitment strategy has been shaped in close consultation with Pan-gon, with several key positions already identified for strengthening.

He confirmed that the scouting process has been running continuously through a dedicated department, although the club’s immediate focus remains on evaluating the current squad.

“At this stage, our focus is internal. Scouting is a continuous process for us as we have a dedicated department handling it throughout the year,” he said when contacted.

“We have not begun engaging or contacting players yet, but we already have a shortlist for each position. That is part of our ongoing work.”

Dr Johan added that Selangor have drawn up an extensive list of potential foreign signings across various positions, but decisions have yet to be finalised as priority is given to assessing players currently in the squad.

“For now, our evaluation is fully centred on our existing players, especially those whose contracts may be extended,” he said.

The measured approach underlines Selangor’s intent to avoid rushing into signings, opting instead for a careful selection process to ensure any new arrivals are of proven quality and capable of making a meaningful impact.

The strategy is in line with the club’s long-term ambition to remain competitive in the Super League and mount a serious title challenge against their closest rivals.

With early groundwork already underway and a clear recruitment framework in place, Selangor look well-positioned to assemble a stronger squad next season and revive their push for honours. - April 27, 2026
