PAPAR: Senheng, one of the leading consumer electrical and electronic chain stores in Malaysia, is set to open at Parklane City here as early as May this year.
The Grand Senheng store in Benoni, here will be its ninth outlet in Sabah.
Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd’s Retail Operations and Retail Support Vice President Ho Weng Hung said the new outlet spans three units of three-storey shoplots at Parklane City, allowing the store to display a diverse range of products across 9,000 square feet of space.
He is confident with the prospects of the Parklane City project as the development is situated along the Pan Borneo Highway.
“The market in Kota Kinabalu has become quite saturated.
“With Pan Borneo Highway being adjacent to Parklane City, we have faith in this project,” he said when asked the reason for opening the store in Papar.
Ho received the keys for the newly-completed shoplots from WSG Group Managing Director Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, here, on Wednesday.
Senheng was established since 1989 in West Malaysia and spread its wings to Sabah 18 years ago.
At present, there are eight Senheng stores in Sabah, including six in Kota Kinabalu and one each in Sandakan and Tawau.
“Senheng has been in Sabah since 2006 but most of our stores are concentrated in Kota Kinabalu.
“We plan to expand our presence beyond Kota Kinabalu in the next few years.”
Besides Papar, Senheng will open another store in Tuaran soon.
There are currently 110 Senheng stores nationwide, with plans to establish 66 outlets in the country this year.
Of the 66 stores, 40 are designated as mobile phone outlets and 26 for electrical appliances, he said.
Meanwhile, Susan said Parklane City is poised to become a vibrant commercial hub with major brands coming in to cater for the consumers in Papar.
These include 4Fingers Crispy Chicken, which is slated to open in March, 10Star Cinemas in June, and McDonald’s drive-thru in the fourth quarter of 2023, she said.
She revealed that the company is also in the midst of discussion with other fast food brands keen to operate in Parklane City.
On the other hand, she said the 64 two-storey shoplots are expected to be completed by July 2023.
As for Parklane Villa double-storey terrace house, the first phase of 90 units will be completed in August and another 90 units next year.
“Parklane City is going to be even more prosperous when businesses commence operation soon,” she added.
Also present was WSG Group Project Director Vanessa Wong.
