- Serena Williams and defending men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz have been granted a wildcard to compete together in the US Open mixed doubles.
- Williams, a 23-time grand slam singles champion, is returning to Flushing Meadows after her Wimbledon comeback earlier this year was cut short by injury.
- Alcaraz is returning to competitive action following a four-month injury layoff and will aim for an eighth grand slam title.
- The star-studded mixed doubles lineup also features partnerships between Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic, as well as last year's finalists Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud.
- Mixed doubles qualifying for the tournament in New York is scheduled to begin on Monday 24 August.
