KUALA LUMPUR: The suspect involved in the case of dousing petrol on a lottery shop female assistant and setting her on fire in Taman Pusat Kepong earlier this month has been remanded for seven days, starting today.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the 59-year-old male suspect, who works as an e-hailing driver, was arrested yesterday to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
Fadil said the police also seized several items believed to be related to the incident, including a drink bottle containing a liquid suspected to be petrol, a helmet, a shirt, a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle, a set of motorcycle keys along with a road tax.
“The investigation found that the suspect admitted to being involved in the incident due to dissatisfaction with the victim. The suspect was found to have no prior criminal record,” he said in a statement here today.
On Aug 9, an elderly woman suffered burns to about 50 per cent of her body after being splashed with a liquid believed to be petrol and set on fire at the premises.
