
Kota Kinabalu: A 26-year-old man charged with committing physical sexual harassment against his cousin, will know his fate on June 10 this year.
Sessions Court Judge Noor Hafizah set the date for the man when his case was brought up for submissions on Tuesday.
Both the prosecution and defence made their oral submissions before the court set the date for decision at the end of defence stage.
The man is accused of committing the offence against the 14-year-old girl by pressing down on her for the purpose of sexual.
The offence allegedly took place at 4am on July 27, 2023 at a house in Penampang.
The offence was under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.
The prosecution had called four witnesses while only one witness testified for the defence.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Eugenie A. Gilbert conducted the prosecution while the man who is released on bail, was not represented.
In another case, a 54-year-old Indonesian was jailed six months for overstaying in the State for three days.
Yunus Tawak pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to the charge against him.
He was detained on Apr 8 this year in Ranau and found that his Social Visit pass had expired on Apr 6 this year.
Yunus was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and referred to the Immigration Department for further action.
