KOTA KINABALU: Smiths Gore Sabah (SGS), managing agent of Jade Residence since Jan 1, clarified allegations of mismanagement, saying it inherited over RM150,000 arrears, poor security, leakages, and issues caused by an illegally appointed committee.
Appointed through competitive bidding, SGS said it waived its management fee and only charged a partial salary.
Since then, it has cut costs, installed LED lights, upgraded security with facial recognition and CCTV, repaired leakages, launched a 24-hour complaints app, and organised community events.
SGS also confirmed audited accounts for 2022–2023 are available, 2024 is being finalised, and arrears with SESB have been settled. Renovations require approval, common areas are maintained, and defaulters face firm action.
The company stressed it has acted in residents’ collective interest, with many improvements done at no cost, and pledged to submit documents to the Housing Ministry for review.
