After enduring last week’s crazy traffic jams, Shah Alam drivers are finally getting a break.

Several netizens took to Threads to share how unusually calm the city felt during the festive period, with many attributing it to the balik kampung exodus.

“Even Federal not jam”

One user wrote that “Shah Aley’ is Shah Alam again,” adding that even the Federal Highway was moving smoothly, a surprising change from its usual bumper-to-bumper congestion.

Photos shared online showed wide, open lanes with minimal vehicles, a sight many described as almost unbelievable on a weekday morning.

Another commuter said their usual one-hour drive from Seksyen 7 to Glenmarie was reduced to just 15 minutes.

Traffic lights all green, parking spots everywhere

Others reported smooth traffic lights across multiple junctions, with little to no honking or sudden braking.

Parking, which is typically a daily struggle, was also noticeably easier. One user joked that there were so many empty spots, they could “choose where to park”.

Some even quipped that Shah Alam now only had “9 people left”, suggesting most residents had already headed back to their hometowns.

Despite the calm conditions, one netizen shared that an accident involving four vehicles still occurred along one stretch of road.

They reminded drivers not to speed simply because the roads look clear.
