According to Young Ping Sim, a Malaysian woman has revealed a disturbing experience that allegedly left her traumatised for years after she discovered that the person she believed was a “pervert ghost” secretly filming her while she showered may have actually been her own brother-in-law.
She said she had known her brother-in-law for 12 years, ever since he began dating her only sister. She never imagined that someone she regarded as family would allegedly do something like this especially inside her own home.
The first incident happened in 2021, while she and her sister were staying in a hostel in Melaka.
One night, she was showering alone after working late. Her sister was unwell, while her ex-boyfriend and another couple were elsewhere.
She said she knew the hostel had a reputation for being “haunted”, so she waited until her brother-in-law returned before going to shower.
While inside, she suddenly heard her dog bark.
When she looked towards the mirror, she saw a man's hand holding a phone raised outside the bathroom door.
She immediately shouted, causing the phone to disappear.
Terrified, she finished showering and later told her sister and brother-in-law what had happened.
Her brother-in-law allegedly suggested that the person behind the incident was a “pervert ghost”, claiming the woman and her sister had been making noise while gaming until the early hours and may have disturbed it.
He even suggested that the “ghost” was a male who had inappropriate intentions.
Believing him, the woman said she was genuinely frightened and even accompanied him and her then-boyfriend to buy offerings to appease the supposed spirit.
For years afterwards, she said the incident left her with a habit of repeatedly looking at the mirror whenever she heard a noise while showering.
Then, on June 18, 2026, she experienced something eerily similar.
This time, only she, her sister and her brother-in-law were at home.
While showering, she noticed a phone being raised towards the bathroom.
She froze in fear and did not dare shout. Instead, she moved against the wall and called her mother while pretending to have a normal conversation, hoping to remain calm and buy time.
After hearing the toilet flush and the bathroom door open, she thought the person had left.
But while getting dressed, she glanced at the mirror and allegedly saw the phone repositioned in a corner, still pointing directly towards it.
She quickly finished dressing and prepared to leave.
According to her account, her brother-in-law walked into the living room only seconds before she came out.
The experience reportedly left her shaking and in tears. Her family, ex-husband and boyfriend later arrived to support and protect her.
She now believes the “pervert ghost” from 2021 was never a ghost at all.
She alleges that it was her brother-in-law.
After 12 years of treating him as family, she said the revelation has left her with a second psychological scar.
She also claimed that she had previously helped him financially with more than RM135,000 without demanding repayment.
Now, however, she says she can no longer forgive him.
For her, this is no longer simply a question of character or family conflict, but an alleged violation of trust that has affected her sense of safety for years.
