A woman was left feeling hurt and disrespected by her boyfriend, whom she said developed a “superiority complex” once he began working in Singapore.
In an anonymous post, the woman said because of this attitude, her patience with her boyfriend has worn thin and she’s wondering whether she should break up.
Different salaries
The couple have been together for four years, with the woman working in KL and earning RM4,200 a month, while her boyfriend went to Singapore for work 1.5 months ago.

She said in her view, her salary was enough for her to survive on and it was nothing to feel ashamed of.
“Before my BF went to Singapore, things between us were really well and he would take a bus down to KL to see me. Sometimes, he would even offer to pay for our meals.
“But once he went to Singapore, it’s like he’s completely changed as a person.”
Talked down on her
The woman said now their conversations would involve her boyfriend belittling her by urging her to either be more ambitious or remind her on how measly her RM4,200 salary was when it’s converted to Singaporean dollars.
He even comments on what I buy and eat. But the one thing I’m sick of hearing is him claiming I don’t know how to manage my money.

“The funniest part is that he used to come down to KL to see me, but now our roles have swapped.
“When I told him that taking a bus to Singapore also costs money, he straight-up told me: “Your cost of living in KL is lower. I’m under a lot of pressure in Singapore, so it makes more sense for you to come over.”
‘Why am I always the one sacrificing?’
Out of everything that her boyfriend has done and said so far, none had infuriated the woman more than his “grand plan” for their future.
She said her boyfriend wanted to buy a house and told her to quit her job in KL and move to Johor. When she asked why, he explained that doing so would make it more convenient for him when he crosses the Causeway daily.

“When I asked what was I supposed to do in Johor, he told me to find a normal job, cook, and do house chores as this would save a lot of money.
“As for his response when I inquired about my career, he simply told me to not worry so much and focus on what’s more important, that is us living together.”
This failed to assure the woman and it led to her arguing with her boyfriend, who then accused her of not being understanding towards him.
Why does this so-called plan always requires me to sacrifice something? Why isn’t the future I dreamt of different from his?

“Are we actually in a relationship or is he looking for a partner who can simply fit into his lifestyle?” she wondered.
Towards the end of the post, the woman asked whether she was indeed being too inconsiderate towards her boyfriend’s situation and wondered whether she should call it quits before they get married.
