Auckland House School (AHS) organised ‘Riturang’, an inter-school folk dance competition and emerged victorious bagging the first position here on Monday.

Shimla Public School stood second in the competition while Convent of Jesus and Mary secured the third place. Additionally, a consolation prize was given to Loreto Convent Tara Hall for its commendable performance.

The competition was a part of the week-long cultural extravaganza, ‘Zephyr’, organised by AHS.

The festival is being dedicated to cherish memory of their former late Principal, Sunita John and to celebrate her inspiring vision and leadership.

The competition brought together young performers from 10 prominent schools of the city, including Laureate Public School, Auckland House School for Boys, Chapslee School, Ivy International School, Loreto Convent Tara Hall, Bishop Cotton School, Convent of Jesus and Mary, St. Thomas’ School, Shimla Public School, and the host institution, Auckland House School.

With this competition, students celebrated India’s vibrant cultural diversity as students showcased captivating performances representing various states and traditions of the country. The audience was treated to colourful and energetic dance forms inspired by Gujarati, Bengali, Bihu, Rajasthani, Marathi, Punjabi and several other folk traditions, reflecting the spirit of unity in diversity.

Dr Anurita Saxena, RKMV College’s Principal, was the chief guest on the occasion. The performances were adjudged by renowned classical dance experts Dr Vishal Kumar and Dr Usha, whose expertise added prestige to the occasion.

AHS Principal, Smaraki Samantaroy said that the inaugural event set a vibrant tone for the celebrations ahead, reaffirming Auckland House School’s commitment to nurturing talent, preserving cultural heritage, and providing students with opportunities to excel beyond academics.

“During the festival a series of competitions will be held, aiming to foster creativity, collaboration and holistic development among young learners,” she said.
