Dana White isn’t going to stop praising Jon Jones as the greatest despite the former champion’s public UFC complaints.
Jon Jones may have finished up his UFC career, but not on his own terms. The former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion didn’t get to go out the way he wanted.
Jones was denied a spot on the UFC White House card by Dana White, who said he couldn’t trust him enough to put him in that position. That led to a back-and-forth over how talks had unfolded.
But even with all of that, White hasn’t changed how he feels about what Jones did during his time in the sport.
Jones walked away from his fighting career without losing any titles inside the cage – injuries and controversy played their part outside of it. Even so, it’s clear why many consider him among MMA’s best ever.
The New York native finished with a 27-1 record (1 NC) after making his debut at just 21 years old back in 2008.

Jon Jones may have left the UFC under contentious circumstances, but Dana White remains a firm supporter
Jones said he was given an unacceptably low offer to fight on June 14 in Washington, D.C., and then asked for his release. White, though, insisted that putting him on a White House card was never even up for discussion.
The former champion wasn’t happy about being called dishonest and has since made it clear he wants out of his contract.
Things escalated when Jones reached out for help from Tyron Woodley’s lawyer, Sam Spira, who has since said he thinks he can assist with the situation.
Despite all the drama away from the cage, White’s opinion of Jones as a fighter hasn’t shifted. He spoke about it again in an interview with The New Yorker.
“If you’re looking for your Michael Jordan, it would be Jon Jones, who is the greatest,” White said. “Jon Jones is in his forties now. He’s undefeated still, never been beat. And he’s moved up and down weight classes.”
“It is very, very unique and hard to be undefeated in the UFC,” he added.
Apart from his long-teased matchup with Francis Ngannou outside of UFC contract, ‘Bones’ is also talking about boxing matches if things change with his current deal.
If those talks go somewhere, and if there are real possibilities to step into boxing after leaving the UFC contract behind him.
