Write about what I’m learning and what I’m still trying to figure out.

Book shopping is something very special for people who truly love reading. I'm not referring to scholarly texts that are required for examinations or degrees. I'm referring to the books we read for enjoyment, including fiction, non-fiction, and novels that transport us to other realities.

I recently realized that, especially when I go book shopping by myself, it has become a memorable event for me.

My Big Bad Wolf Experience

The Big Bad Wolf Books is one of the locations I always look forward to going to. If you enjoy reading, you can definitely relate to the thrill. There are thousands of books all over the place as soon as you step in.

The cost is the best feature. Numerous books are offered at steep discounts, which increases the temptation to purchase more than you had intended. I recall that there was even a section dedicated to used books a few years back. You could find unexpected titles in the collection, which made it fascinating, such as rare editions or books by lesser-known authors that you might not typically consider.

The experience is still spectacular, despite the fact that the collection occasionally varies from year to year. Online shopping will never be able to entirely replace browsing through book stacks, finding new authors, and holding various titles in your hands.

The Magnificence of Bookstores

My first visit to BookXcess in Kuala Lumpur was another unforgettable experience.

I went there by myself, and to be honest, it was one of my favorite days spent by myself. It was a lovely bookstore. It was a reader's paradise, with books neatly placed everywhere.

The idea of going on a "blind date with a book" drew my interest. You just see brief clues about the plot or genre rather than the book cover. It creates a sense of adventure when picking a book.

For those who like to learn something new, it was such a sweet and imaginative concept.

Non-Fiction vs. Fiction

I read non-fiction literature for a long period. They are straightforward and educational, which is why I like them. Nonfiction books frequently provide life, knowledge, and personal development lessons.

But lately, I've also been reading more fiction.

Because fiction immerses you in a narrative, it feels different. You start to see the people, settings, and feelings found in the novel. At times, it seems as though you are a part of the narrative.

Generally speaking, I like modern and fantasy literature. Because I have such a vivid imagination, I seldom ever read horror. I read Mr. Midnight when I was younger, and after reading some of the stories, I recall being too afraid to go to sleep!

I'm picky about romance novels. Not every romantic novel I come across is one I read. I favor writers like Emily Henry and Colleen Hoover, whose styles I truly like. Their books are frequently captivating and emotionally charged.

My Present Reading Goal

I'm attempting something new right now.

I've made it my goal to finish all the books I already own but haven't finished, rather than buying new ones right away. I've read half of them, and I haven't begun any of them.

My goal is to complete them by June, which is in the middle of the year.

I won't let myself go book shopping again till after that.

I don't purchase books every month. When I come across good titles, I like to purchase multiple books at once and read them slowly at my own time.

Reading is not a race, in my opinion. It's a voyage worth taking pleasure in.
