LRT services were disrupted once again this morning (24 February), leading to significant delays and long queues that left commuters frustrated.

This marks the fourth service disruption on the Kelana Jaya line in less than a week. The issues began last Thursday (19 February), coinciding with the start of Ramadan, followed by two further disruptions during yesterday’s morning and evening peak hours (23 February).

Frustrated commuters seek answers

Many commuters stranded at various stations took to social media to vent their frustrations, demanding a transparent explanation for the recurring technical failures.

Some noted that despite leaving home earlier than usual to avoid the Ramadan crowds, they were still caught in the chaos.

“Should we request to work from home?”

Following the back-to-back disruptions, one frustrated commuter called for an explanation during a press conference, while others suggested allowing employees to work from home during Ramadan, citing repeated service breakdowns and worsening traffic across the Klang Valley.

“If this happens daily, are we supposed to request WFH for the entire month? This is so stressful and time-wasting!”

“I think it’s time for RapidKL to explain the issues through a press conference. Why is this happening too often? Are we supposed to play this riddle?”

“Why is the Kelana Jaya line the one that is always affected? I don’t see the same issues for the Ampang line.”

RapidKL clarifies the disruptions

In official statements, RapidKL cited technical difficulties between the Asia Jaya and Taman Bahagia stations. Alternative train services were activated immediately while technical teams worked to resolve the fault.

As of 9 AM, RapidKL confirmed that the manually operated trains had been withdrawn and normal operations had resumed. However, the operator noted that it would take some time to regulate the train frequencies and restore the full schedule.

RapidKL has apologised to all affected commuters for the inconvenience.

If you were delayed this morning, remember that you can claim a “late slip” from the customer service counters at your respective LRT stations to provide to your employer.
