Kota Kinabalu: Sabah International Expo 2026 (SIE2026) has attracted participation from 15 countries, with about 10,000 trade visitors, delegates, participants and visitors expected during the three-day event at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Deputy Chief Minister III cum Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the expo features 300 booths, with about 35 per cent involving international exhibitors, including those from the BIMP-EAGA region.
The participating countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Denmark, Finland, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Peninsular Malaysia, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Thailand and Zambia.
“Over these three days, we are targeting about 10,000 visitors and potential sales and business transactions of up to RM10 million,” Ewon said after officiating SIE2026 here, Friday, adding that the expo provides Sabah entrepreneurs with a platform to market their products and services and explore trade opportunities with foreign delegations.
Ewon, who is also SIE2026 Main Organising Chairman, said Sabah aims to position itself as a gateway to Borneo and a bridge to BIMP-EAGA, while the expo also features the third BIMP-EAGA Trade, Investment and Halal Industry Conference involving about 300 delegates and the Sabah International Business Luncheon Talk featuring Sunway Group Founder and Chairman Tan Sri Sir Dr Jeffrey Cheah before about 700 participants.
