KUALA LUMPUR - National squash ace S. Sivasangari continued her impressive run by capturing the Silicon Valley Open title in Redwood City, California, on Saturday.
The world No. 4 defeated Egypt’s Farida Mohamed 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 in 31 minutes to clinch the Gold-level title at her second attempt, having finished runner-up to American Olivia Weaver last year.
The victory marked Sivasangari’s fourth Gold-level title and her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) title of the season.
“I told myself ‘I want to break through and go into the semis of the Platinum events’ which I’ve already done at the start of this season. So now I have to go one step higher and try to win a Platinum-level tournament,” she told the PSA Squash Tour.
The women’s event at the Silicon Valley Open 2026 offered total prize money of US$143,500 (about RM585,637).
Last month, Sivasangari retained her Asiad women’s singles title at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 edition before helping Malaysia win the women’s team gold.
The 27-year-old Kedah-born player’s achievements in Japan also secured her qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. - October 25, 2026
