Sivasangari retains Asian Games gold, joins Eain Yow for LA28

S. SIVASANGARI became the second squash player to qualify for the Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) Olympics after successfully defending her women's singles title at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games today.

The world number five defeated India's Anahat Singh (world number 17) 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena.

Winners of the men's and women's singles events at the Asian Games earn automatic qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, where the sport will make its debut.

Earlier, Ng Eain Yow defended his men's singles title after defeating India's Abhay Singh 11-9, 11-5, 11-5 in the final.

He thus became the first player in the sport's history to qualify for LA28.

Sivasangari has now defeated Anahat in all three of their encounters to date. – September 27, 2026
