Kota Kinabalu: Six houses were damaged in a fire at Taman Jumbo, Putatan, on Friday. No one was reported injured.
The Putatan fire station received a call and the first fire engine arrived at the scene, 5km from the station, at 6pm and found three houses on fire.
The blaze later spread to six houses.
The fire was brought under control about 45 minutes later and the operation ended at 10.17pm after no more dangers remained.
Firefighters from the Putatan and Kota Kinabalu fire stations each used one 200-foot hose line with two water jets, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant.
A total of 36 firefighters were involved, with support from fire engines, emergency medical rescue vehicles and a water tanker.
Other agencies at the scene included two police personnel, seven from the Civil Defence Force, two from the Health Ministry and three from Sabah Electricity.
Sabah Electricity cut power supply to Taman Jumbo and nearby areas about five minutes after firefighters arrived.
The cause of the fire and number of people affected are under investigation.
