Kota Kinabalu: SKA Penampang clinched the overall title in the 20th Sabah State Cadet Junior Under-21 Karate Championship held at SM All Saints Hall in Likas over the weekend.

They took home 10 golds, six silvers and five bronzes in the two-day competition.

The golds were won by Audrey Adreana (Cadet Female Individual Kata, Kumite Female -54kg), Ivy Olivera Donny (Junior Female Individual Kata), Allyssa Audrey Anthony (Junior Female Kumite +59kg, Junior Female Kumite +59kg), Anneliese Anne Robberth (Junior Female Kumite -48kg), Jude Joseph Johanus (Junior Male Kumite -68kg), Eldrich Aaron Anthony (Under 21 Male Individual Kata, Male Kumite -84kg) and the Female Cadet Kata team.

The silvers were contributed by Mukhriz Mazlan (Cadet Male Individual Kata), Maxzillion Nelson (Cadet Male Kumite -52kg), Siti Nurzawiyah (Extra Category Female Individual Kata), Anneliese Anne Robberth (Junior Female Individual Kata), Anabell Mazlan (Junior Female Kumite -59kg), Jericho Jones (Junior Male Kumite -61kg) while the bronze came from Shawanda Dania (Cadet Female Kumite -47kg), Lea Prescilla Welly (Extra Category Female Individual Kata), Tan Xian Zong (Junior Male Individual Kata), Mohd Nur Rezam Zulkhairi (Under 21 Male Kumite -60kg) and Haryrie Hariz (Under 21 Male Kumite -67kg).

Meanwhile, the main dojo contingent came in second place with eight golds, seven silvers and seven bronzes while third place went to Brunei team with seven golds, five silvers and seven bronzes.

Sabah Karate Association (SKA) President Datuk Jake Jikulin Nointin who officiated the closing ceremony was delighted with the support from the parents.

He said SKA intends to organise more competitions.

He hoped more athletes from the state would get to represent Malaysia in the future.
