
MANILA, Philippines — A small fire broke out at a contractor’s storage facility inside the House of Representatives compound on Sunday but it was swiftly contained.
No casualties or injuries were reported from the incident that started around 9:30 a.m.
The Office of the Secretary General said personnel from the House of Representatives Fire Unit and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded immediately and declared the fire out at 9:57 a.m.
Initial assessment showed damage to some property and equipment stored inside the facility.
The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms, in coordination with the BFP, has begun an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and identify measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
The HOR also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security within the Batasan Complex.
