2 OFWS affected by fire in Taichung receive financial aid

MANILA, Philippines — Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) received financial aid after the fire that broke out on July 19 at their employers's house in Taichung, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

The two, who were working as caretakers, "sustained minor injuries and were taken to China Medical University for treatment," the DMW said in a statement on Facebook.

The department said that on July 23, the Migrant Workers Office in Taichung, Taiwan "coordinated with the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) to provide financial assistance to help workers replace basic necessities lost or damaged in the fire." These, the DMW said, "included clothing, personal belongings, passports, and other essential items."
