
MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Beer mowed down Converge behind an explosive second half offensive to zoom to a 3-0 start in their PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup showdown on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
George King and CJ Perez combined to score 29 of SMB’s 41 points in the third canto to break free from a tight contest.
King finished with 41 points, 11 rebounds and five assists, along with three steals.
Perez exploded for 31, spiked by four-of-five threes, while Marcio Lassiter finished with 18 points.
Don Trollano added 11, while June Mar Fajardo had 10 and nine rebounds for SMB, which missed coach Leo Austria, who is advised to rest due to an illness.
The win pushed SMB to a share of top spot at Group A with NLEX.
Converge saw its three-game win streak to start the conference come to a halt.
Justin Arana led Converge with 29 points while Justine Baltazar had 16 and 12 rebounds.
Import Jalen Hudon finished with 16 and five boards.
